Interesting article, John, thanks for posting. Dude forgot to mention one of the single most important factors for escaping a burning plane: DO NOT crawl. That's a tip for escaping burning buildings—to be lower than the smoke and thus be able to breathe—but it's just the opposite in burning planes: get the hell out as fast as possible, and to do that you have to remain vertical.
This is the kind of information I file away in the tiny, panic-stricken corner of my brain that pre-worries about dying in a plane crash.
